Save the date for #NOFF2023! The 34th annual, Oscar-qualifying New Orleans Film Festival returns November 2-7, 2023 in venues across the city with in-person events, parties, panels, filmmaker pitches, and much more!

The majority of the lineup will also be accessible via NOFF Virtual Cinema globally between November 2-12, 2023. Geo-restrictions may apply to some screenings.

NOFF annually brings together 150+ films and hosts 100+ filmmakers in New Orleans to celebrate works of emerging and established filmmakers from New Orleans, Louisiana, the South, and beyond. Audiences get a chance to meet filmmakers in person at talkback sessions after screenings while filmmakers get to network with each other and industry professionals flying in from Los Angeles and New York to discover emerging talent. It’s the best time of the year for film lovers who like to discover the works of storytellers first hand, meet fellow film buffs mingling at festival venues and parties to talk film all festival long.

The NOFS welcomes all journalist and media representatives to the NOFF. The NOFF2023 Press Accreditation form will open in summer 2023.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Welcome to the New Orleans Film Festival. Please join us in embracing our community guidelines at all Festival events by:

  • Acknowledging with gratitude the land we occupy as the colonized Indigenous space known first as Bulbancha
  • Sustaining authentic relationships with our neighbors, especially the Afro-descendent communities that continually shape New Orleans
  • Including people equitably of every race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, ability, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, age, physical appearance, language, citizenship, and socioeconomic status
  • Protecting each other’s health amidst an ongoing global pandemic
  • Treating others with dignity and respect, especially Festival volunteers and staff implementing Festival policies and procedures
  • Enjoying alcohol and other refreshments responsibly and mindfully

 

We will not permit:

  • Disruptive behavior of any kind that interferes with Festival events
  • Use of personal electronics during Festival screenings, especially cell phones and unauthorized recording devices
  • Non-compliance with the direction of Festival staff and volunteers regarding Festival policies and procedures
  • Verbal or physical harassment, including abusive language and gestures, threats, cursing, or sexual language directed at others
  • Any form of discrimination or harassment, including, but not limited to, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, sexism, or body shaming
  • Using firearms or other dangerous weapons in Festival spaces to intimidate or harm volunteers, staff, or attendees

 

By purchasing a ticket or entering Festival event spaces, you agree to join us in this Code of Conduct. If you are found to be in violation of these agreements, you may be removed from events by a designated staff member. If you witness or experience a violation of these agreements, we encourage you to report the incident anonymously via this form or by email at info@neworleansfilmsociety.org.

By entering Festival event spaces, you consent to photography and recording (audio and video) and its release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, webcasts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by NOFS and its affiliates and representatives.

LOCATION & PARKING

The Broad Theater is located in the Tremé neighborhood at 636 N Broad St, New Orleans.

Limited parking is available in a surface lot at the front door with accessible spots, with recommended parking in The Broadside lot (across the street) and street parking throughout the neighborhood. There is a bicycle rack in the parking lot. (Bikes are not permitted in the venue.)

FACILITIES

There is a level approach to the front door with 72-inch doorways and pull door handles. Inside, there are four steps up or a 64-inch wide ramp to the theater doors with 42-inch doorways and pull door handles. Theater 1 has two small steps or a 36-inch wide ramped entrance.

In Theater 1, there are at least two accessible seating options. These options have a level approach and are 66 inches wide by 48 inches deep. In Theater 4, there are at least four accessible seating options. These options have a level approach and are 36 inches wide by 48 inches deep. There are companion seats adjacent to accessible seats in both theaters.

The permanent chairs are 18 inches wide. The back extends 29 inches from the seat which sits 17 inches from the ground. The armrests are adjustable. Alternative chairs without armrests are available upon request.

RESTROOMS

There are two accessible public restrooms, one with urinals and stalls, and the other with only stalls. Please note: in the restroom with urinals and stalls, the approach to the largest stall is angled and 34 inches wide. There are no private restrooms available.

The Broad Theater sells food and drink (including alcoholic beverages) available for Festival attendees to purchase.

The Broadside is an outdoor venue located in the Tremé neighborhood at 600 N Broad St, New Orleans (across from The Broad Theater).

Parking is available in a surface lot at the front gate with accessible spots. Additional street parking is available throughout the neighborhood. There is a bicycle rack in the Broad parking lot. (Bikes are not permitted in the venue.)

FACILITIES

There is an uncovered level approach to the front gate with a 10-foot gateway. Inside, there is a concrete and brick walkway with areas of small stones.

There are at least eight covered accessible seating options. These options have a slightly uneven approach and flexible width and depth. There are companion seats adjacent to these accessible seats.

Venue seating is primarily Adirondack chairs that are 22 inches wide. The back extends 32 inches from the seat which sits 16 inches from the ground. The armrests are stationary. Other seating includes wooden picnic tables with seats 16 inches from the ground. Attendees are welcome to bring their own reasonably-sized chairs, and alternative chairs without armrests are available upon request.

RESTROOMS

There are multiple portable toilets with three accessible options. Attendees are welcome to use The Broad Theater restrooms, located across the street.

The Broadside sells food and drink (including alcoholic beverages) available for Festival attendees to purchase.

At this time, The Broadside cannot accommodate accessibility devices, but films will feature open captions (on-screen) whenever possible.

Prytania Theatre Uptown is located in the Uptown neighborhood at 5339 Prytania St, New Orleans.

Street parking is available throughout the neighborhood. Accessible parking, including assisted arrival and departure, may be arranged by request. There is street bicycle parking throughout the neighborhood. (Bikes are not permitted in the venue.)

FACILITIES

Please note: Prytania Theatre Uptown is a historic theater that may present challenges to Festival attendees using mobility devices. We apologize for these challenges and will have trained staff available for assistance.

The entrance to Prytania Theatre Uptown is partially covered. There are two steps to the front door with two 60-inch doorways and pull door handles. Inside, there are multiple steps up and down to arrive at the theater doors with 36-inch doorways and pull door handles. Trained NOFF staff can escort attendees through an alternative entrance with a level approach to a theater door with a 40-inch doorway and pull door handles.

The theater seating is in two sections: a sloping floor section and a balcony, accessible by a lobby staircase with 18 steps. There are at least two accessible seating options in the floor section. These options have a slightly ramped approach and 48-inch width and 48-inch depth. There are companion seats adjacent to these accessible seats.

The permanent chairs are 18 inches wide. The back extends 24 inches from the seat which sits 15 inches from the ground. The armrests are stationary. Alternative chairs without armrests are available upon request. 

RESTROOMS

There are two public restrooms with 30.5-inch wide doors which do not meet ADA requirements. One has urinals and stalls, and the other only stalls. There are no private restrooms available. We are working on bathroom solutions for all patrons and invite your feedback to info@neworleansfilmsociety.org.

Prytania Theatre Uptown sells food and drink (including alcoholic beverages) available for Festival attendees to purchase.

The entrance to the New Orleans Jazz Market is covered. There is a level approach to the front door with a 72-inch doorway and pull door handles. Inside, there is a level approach to the theater doors with 36-inch doorways and pull door handles.

The theater seating is in two sections: a level floor section and raked seating with stairs. There are at least six accessible seats in the floor section that have a level approach and expansive width and depth. There are companion seats adjacent to these accessible seats.

At this time, the elevators to the upper bar and back portion of the raked seating section are out of order. Trained staff will be available to assist you as requested.

There are two types of chairs. Permanent chairs in the raked section are 16 inches wide. The back extends 17 inches from the seat which sits 18 inches from the ground. The armrests are stationary. Chairs in the floor section are 17 inches wide. The back extends 12 inches from the seat which sits 19 inches from the ground. The small, low armrests are stationary. Alternative chairs without armrests are available upon request.

RESTROOMS

There are two accessible public restrooms, one with urinals and stalls, and the other with only stalls. There are no private restrooms available.

The theatre chairs are 16 inches wide. The back extends 20 inches from the seat which sits 19 inches from the ground.

In the Fotokem Theater, the permanent chairs are 18 inches wide. The back extends 32 inches from the seat which sits 15 inches from the ground. The armrests are stationary. Alternative chairs without armrests are available upon request. 

In the Conference Room, the event seating is all in one level floor section with many accessible seats that have a level approach and expansive width and depth. There are companion seats adjacent to these accessible seats.

In the Conference Room, the swivel chairs are 19 inches wide. The back extends 22 inches from the seat which sits 20 inches from the ground. The armrests are stationary. Alternative chairs without armrests that do not swivel are available upon request.

RESTROOMS

There are two accessible public restrooms on each floor, one with urinals and stalls, and the other with only stalls. There are no private restrooms available.

HOW TO FEST

The 33rd annual, Oscar-qualifying New Orleans Film Festival takes place November 3-8, 2022 across the city with in-person events, parties, panels, filmmaker pitches, and much more!

The majority of the lineup will also be accessible via NOFF Virtual Cinema globally between November 3-13, 2022. Geo-restrictions apply to some screenings.

There will also be free events and panel discussions geared at filmmakers and those interested in learning about the craft. Featured filmmakers will have access to additional programming geared at opening doors in their careers. 

NOFF is open to all guests 18 years of age or older, due to adult content. Films appropriate for all ages will be notated with a “Family Friendly” tag in the online Film Guide.

Physical Screenings will take place at The Broad, The Broadside, New Orleans Jazz Market, The Prytania Theatre, and Second Line Stages.

  • Individual tickets will be sold in advance.
  • Passholders DO NOT need to book advance tickets to screenings. 
  • Your pass serves as your ticket to all films and you are FIRST in line to the house. Be sure to arrive 15 minutes before showtime to guarantee your seat!

Passes and tickets are available for purchase on neworleansfilmsociety.org in advance of NOFF. Please see “Passes and Tickets” for prices, release dates, and descriptions. 

Pass pick up will be at The Broad Theater on November 2 (12-7 pm) and November 3 (12-4:30 pm), then at New Orleans Jazz Market November 4-6 from 12-8pm. Passes will be available for a limited window from 5:00-7:30 pm on Opening Night, November 3, at Second Line Stages.

For your convenience, All Access passholders will not book tickets in advance. Please pick up your physical pass before attending a screening or event to guarantee entry. Each pass will have a QR code to scan for priority entry. Please arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the screening, as any open seats will be released at that time. 

Physical passes are not provided for the 6 Film Pass or the Student and Teacher Pass. Present the QR code from your NOFF Eventive account for venue entry by logging in on your device or showing a screenshot for scanning.

Tickets will be available online until each physical screening begins. At that time, they will be available for purchase at the onsite NOFF Box Office; or, by scanning your pass at the venue entrance for All Access passholders; or in the case of a Rush Line, either.

There will be no physical tickets provided this year; simply show the ticket on your mobile device (our preference), via screenshot or by logging into your account; or bring your personally printed copy to be scanned at entry.

Venue Box Offices open one hour prior to the day’s first screening and close one hour after the last screening begins. Cash and checks will not be accepted. Please be prepared to pay with a debit or credit card, or Apple/Google Pay via smartphone.

If you are not going to use your pass or ticket, and have paid for it, it can be transferred through your account to a friend using their email address by logging into your account and selecting “My Passes” or “My Tickets” then Manage. Transfer the pass by entering the email address of the person you are giving the pass. 

If you have purchased tickets or passes for events  you can not attend, please consider your purchase as a donation to the New Orleans Film Society.

Passes and tickets are otherwise non-refundable. All sales are final. Should a screening be canceled by NOFF, your ticket will be transferred to view the film online at your leisure. If the film isn’t screening in the Virtual Cinema, we will allow you to select another in-person screening to attend.

Instructions for guests to transfer a pass: 

Step 1 – Log in to noff2022.eventive.org

Step 2 – Select My passes from the top right menu. 

Step 3: Click the gear to the right of SHOW BARCODE.

Step 4: Select Transfer Pass.

Step 5: Enter the email of the person receiving the pass.

At this time, the recipient will get an email prompting them to accept the pass.

Step 1: Click the link in the email. 

Step 2: Accept the pass transfer.

Follow the same instructions using “My Tickets” for individual screening tickets.

Yes. All customer payment info is submitted securely to our payment processor, Stripe, using the most stringent, PCI Level 1 compliant security protocols.  Eventive stores customer credit card details securely, and the festival staff does not have access to your credit card information. You may request that your payment information be unlinked from your account by choosing the “account settings” link at the upper right while logged in and viewing the New Orleans Film Society organization page.

If advance tickets to a screening are unavailable, a Rush Line will form in a designated location at the venue half an hour before the scheduled screening. Any available seats will be released on a first-come, first-served basis to those in line. All Access Passholders receive priority entry for the Rush Line.

If you have an Apple TV, Fire TV or Roku device, you can use the dedicated Eventive app for these platforms after booking your ticket online.

If you have Chromecast, you can cast the film from Chrome on your computer or Android phone. If Chromecasting, you must have a 3rd generation or later Chromecast stick.

Please Note: Due to content protection restrictions, the Screen Mirroring feature on Smart TVs and other devices cannot be used. Many browsers built into Smart TVs and other devices will NOT allow protected content to play.

 

Content can be watched on PCs running Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, and Intel-based Macs running macOS 10.12+. You can also watch films on Android tablets and phones using Chrome, and on iPhones and iPads using Safari.

Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser. Internet Explorer is not supported.

To purchase and or use tickets and/or passes, you will be required to create an account in Eventive. You will need to log in to this account to access your tickets and passes, so hold on this information!

Tickets will be sent to the email address attached to your account.

When you purchase a ticket you will also receive a confirmation email that includes information about when your selected program will be available for viewing and a link to open it up.

You will need to be logged into your Eventive account to watch the film. Navigate to the virtual film page and click the “Watch Now” button. 

If you are not logged in to your Eventive account, the button will read “Unlock Now”. Simply log-in using the pop-out or the button in the top right corner of the page and proceed to Menu. 

UNLOCK WINDOW : 7 days 

WATCH WINDOW: 48 hours

When you unlock a virtual screening, you will have the “unlock window” duration to begin watching. Once they start watching (i.e., click “Play”), you will have the “watch window” duration to play the content. 

All available NOFF2022 feature length films and shorts programs will be available to watch anytime from November 3, 2022, at 7:30pm until NOFF2022 closes at 11:59 PM on November 13, 2022, unless specifically restricted per film. 

In select cases, NOFS distributes discount codes through community partners to provide access to the festival.

If you have a code, select the film you want to watch and click “Unlock Now”. It will say Unlock ”Film Title”. Below that it will say “Have a Discount Code.” Click that and input your discount code. The cost will change according to the code. Proceed to sign in to Eventive or create an account, if you do not already have one, and then enjoy the film.

The individual virtual film pages will indicated if closed captions are available.

PASS – Think of it as a virtual badge. You will use it to unlock virtual programs before and during the festival.  

LIVE STREAM PROGRAM – For our purposes, a Live Stream event will include those that happen at a specific time and occur live (Q&A, Panel Discussions, Round Tables) and/or are the recorded versions of live events that occurred earlier in the festival. 

GEO-BLOCK – On rare occasions, the festival will be asked to limit the audience of a given program to a specific geographic area. Should a program be geo-blocked, it will be noted in the home page for the presentation and will also be found on the watch page of the virtual festival in the Geo-Blocked section.

AVAILABILITY WINDOW – This is the time frame during which a program is available.

UNLOCK WINDOW – This is the time frame one has after unlocking a program to begin watching it.

WATCH WINDOW – Once a program is unlocked, the watch window is the amount of time one has to view the program.

All scheduled program times are listed in Central Standard Time.

Live Chat Support from Eventive and additional technical troubleshooting resources are available through Eventive by clicking “Need Help?” in the top right corner of your browser window. Or by visiting https://watch.eventive.org/help. This feature is monitored by Eventive technicians and available 9am-11:59pm CST 7 days a week, with limited support outside these hours as well. HOW DO I ENABLE ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS?
  1. Hover the cursor over the video you are currently watching to make the video controls visible.
  2. On the bottom right, click on the sprocket icon.
  3. Click on the subtitles button and select English to enable on-screen captions. Click on Audio Track and select Audio Description to enable Audio Descriptions.

Note: If a film is in a language other than English and has subtitled burned into the image, you do not have to enable subtitles or captions. 

We are aiming to have every film supported with captions and encouraging filmmakers to create audio descriptions.

INTERNET SPEEDS

For any device, you will need a robust and reliable internet connection. Check your internet speed by running a speed test. The minimum recommended bandwidth for streaming is 5 Mbps download speed. For 1080p quality we recommend a minimum of 8 Mbps download speed.

CAPTIONING & AMPLIFICATION

NOFF partners with filmmakers to enable closed captioning for their programs whenever possible using personal caption devices, available by request (with a photo ID) at any of our indoor venues. Films with closed captions will be noted in the online Film Guide.

Assistive Listening Devices, which amplify program sound through headphones or hearing aids, are available by request (with a photo ID) at any of our indoor venues.

Some programs are equipped with Descriptive Audio Tracks that provide narration through Assistive Listening Devices.

At this time, The Broadside may not accommodate these accessibility devices, but films will feature open captions (on-screen) whenever possible.

PRINT & LANGUAGE OPTIONS

All foreign-language films are screened with English subtitles. Films with subtitles will be noted in the online Film Guide.

NOFF can arrange American Sign Language interpreters by request at no cost to you. Two weeks’ notice is strongly preferred.

Large-print Festival Brochures may be available by request at no cost to you at each of the Festival venues.

PHYSICAL ACCOMMODATIONS

All Festival venues are accessible to attendees using mobility devices, and accessible (ADA) seating is available for all Festival events by request.

Each venue has accessible restrooms and Festival attendees are invited to use the restroom that best suits their needs. In some venues, private restrooms are available.

Working service animals, such as guide dogs, are welcome to accompany Festival attendees. We are unable to accommodate pets or emotional support animals.

2022 Covid-19 Guidelines

Masks and COVID-19 vaccinations, including booster shots, are recommended to enter all Festival event spaces, even outdoors. Masks and hand sanitizers will be available. We recommend testing in advance of the Festival.

NOFF will follow all current CDC recommendations and City of New Orleans guidelines as they relate to the Coronavirus.

We ask that you respect other guests by not attending screenings or events if you have symptoms associated with COVID-19, such as fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting.
