The New Orleans Film Society (NOFS), producer of the Oscar®-qualifying New Orleans Film Festival (NOFF, October 23–27, 2025), is thrilled to partner with The Broad Theatre to present an exclusive advance screening of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
This special event, featuring star Harry Shearer in person, marks the first major public program leading into this year’s Festival and sets the stage for a month-long celebration of bold, unforgettable cinema in New Orleans.
On the eve of its nationwide release, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, which was filmed in New Orleans with local crew and talent, will screen at The Broad Theater, with the one-and-only Harry Shearer in attendance (Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Derek Smalls, etc.)
Post film screening, co-writer and actor Harry Shearer will sit down for an on-stage conversation and Q&A with New Orleans native and Pulitzer Prize-winning music and culture journalist for the Times-Picayune, Keith Spera.
Harry Shearer’s love and commitment to New Orleans brings his much-anticipated film to our city and to the NOFS audience first. Harry chose to share this special night with the city of New Orleans and The New Orleans Film Society hopes you will share it with us. This event also kicks off the countdown to the 2025 New Orleans Film Festival (October 23–27), produced annually by the New Orleans Film Society. Don’t miss this rare and unique evening with Harry Shearer, who loves this city as much as you do.
HARRY SHEARER:
“I could’ve been anywhere in the world for this premiere. London. Los Angeles. A backstage deli tray in Cleveland. But I chose New Orleans because this city gets the joke and knows how to play along.”
KEITH SPERA:
“Harry Shearer’s wit is as sharp as his characters are unforgettable. To unpack Spinal Tap with him, on a New Orleans stage, is my idea of a conversation worth cranking up.”

ABOUT THE FILM
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues (release date: September 12, 2025) reunites Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Rob Reiner in a saga of squabbles, sneezed-away drummers, and one last shot at rock immortality. With cameos from Paul McCartney, Elton John, Paul Shaffer, Fran Drescher, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and more, this sequel proves once again: it’s a fine line between clever and… well, you know.
PARTNERS’ QUOTES
Dodd Loomis, Interim Executive Director, New Orleans Film Society
“The New Orleans Film Society shares Harry’s excitement for this wonderful event and expresses real appreciation for Bleeker Street Films’ willingness to partner to bring this to life.”
Brian Knighten, Owner, The Broad Theatre
“At The Broad, we love films that are a little loud, a little weird, and totally unforgettable, so Spinal Tap II fits right in. Partnering with NOFS to bring Harry Shearer home for this premiere is exactly why we do what we do: bringing movies, music, and community under one roof, all cranked up to 11!”
NOFS and The Broad invite you to stick around after the program. The Broad’s bar will be open, the pinball machines are ready, and The Broadside will be hosting live music for those who want to keep the evening rolling. And who knows, you just might get Derek Smalls to autograph your face!
